Orientation Week
Orientation Week is a week of events that introduce you to the community at U of G. There are hundreds of events, including academic and social events, a pep rally, concerts and more.
Clubs and Societies
General Clubs
U of G has a wide range of clubs to suit your interests. Some of the clubs you can join include Amnesty International, Nerf Club, Quidditch Club, Photography Club, Diversity and Culture Club, Outdoors Club and Nanoscience Club.
Indigenous Student Club
The Indigenous Student Society (ISS) represents First Nations, Inuit and Métis students at U of G. The ISS builds community and supports First Nations, Inuit and Métis students by organizing social and awareness raising events and can voice the concerns of Indigenous students on campus. All Indigenous students are encouraged to connect with the ISS.
Students’ Union
Your student union plays an important role at university. The union advocates on behalf of students on campus and in the community. At U of G, you are represented by the Central Student Association and the Graduate Student Association.
Athletics
Varsity Athletics
U of G is home to the Gryphons varsity sports that range from field hockey to lacrosse. The Guelph Gryphons participate in both Ontario University Athletics and Canadian Interuniversity Sport.

Recreation and Intramurals
U of G offers recreational sports and leagues regardless of your skill level. Recreational sports at U of G include hockey and volleyball.
Joining a team is a great way to meet other people and stay active, whether you are continuing to play a sport or starting a new one.
Student Services
Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
If you have a disability that requires accommodation and support, Student Accessibility Services is available to help you. Contact the office as soon as possible to ensure the appropriate supports are in place for you at the start of the school year.
LGBTQ2IA+ Student Advising
The Sexual and Gender Diversity Advisor provides personal and academic support for LGBTQ2IA+ undergraduate and graduate students.
OUTline is the U of G’s resource and support service specializing in questions relating to sexual orientation and gender identity. Hop online to chat with a trained LGBTQ2IA+ volunteer on your computer, laptop or smartphone. This service is confidential and anonymous, great if you want to chat, ask questions and/or inquire about resources. The OUTline News and Ask OUTline blog houses a number of great community resources and lots of information and guidance about the LGBTQ2IA+ community in Guelph.
Guelph Queer Equality is a student run group at U of G that provides a safe space and supportive environment for all people in the trans, bisexual, lesbian, gay, questioning, gender queer, asexual, intersex or generally queer community and their allies. People of all races, religions, sexual orientations, genders, ages and abilities are welcome.
Multi-Faith Resource Team
The Multi-Faith Resource Team (MFRT) is made up of representatives from a number of faith communities who work together to meet religious and spiritual needs on campus. The team consists of the following faith communities:
- Buddhist
- Catholic
- Protestant (Ecumenical Campus Ministry, Guelph Campus Ministry and the Evangelical Fellowship)
- Hindu
- Jewish (Hillel Guelph and Chabad of Guelph)
- Muslim
- Spiritual but not Religious

Child Care
You can access child care on campus at the Child Care and Learning Centre.
Security
Campus Safety Office maintain and monitor campus safety through many programs, including secure access to buildings and residences, crime prevention, a Safe Walk program, emergency phones located around campus and the SafeGryhpon app.
