General Admission

Admission and Academic Requirements

All offers of admission are conditional upon meeting the minimum academic requirements. Ontario high school students must successfully complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, including:

  • Six 4U/M courses with an overall final average of 70%
  • 4U English (ENG4U or EAE4U) with a minimum final grade of 70%

There are other minimum requirements for mature students and those who are applying from outside Ontario or those with previous postsecondary education.

Admission to OCAD U’s studio-based degree programs (BDes or BFA) is based on submitting a portfolio. All applicants must submit a portfolio to be considered. Portfolio requirements vary by program.

Admission to our non-studio degree program (Honours BA) is based on a combination of academic requirements and supplemental application materials. After you apply, we will email you with details about submitting your portfolio for assessment.
