Financial Aid
Investing in your future may require some help along the way.
Algoma offers financial aid to eligible students, as well as many scholarships and bursaries specifically for Indigenous students.
Scholarships and Bursaries
Financial aid is available through scholarships, bursaries, government loans and Indigenous-specific scholarships and awards.
The following are examples of 2 awards available at Algoma:
- The Paul and Bricken Dalseg, Pioneers of Lake-of-the-Woods Student Award is given to Anishinaabe students entering first year, who are residents of the Treaty 3 area of Ontario and who demonstrate financial need.
- The Shingwauk Anishinaabe Students’ Association Scholarship is given to an Anishinaabe, First Nation, Inuit or Métis student in any year of study, who demonstrates financial need.
For more information about financial support, including scholarships and bursaries, view Algoma’s list of scholarships and bursaries or connect with the Anishinaabe Student Advisor at the Anishinaabe Initiatives Division.
Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
A student loan through OSAP is one of the ways you can finance your postsecondary education.
Work Study Program and Part-time Work
Algoma’s Work Study Program can help eligible students find part-time work at the university. Some of the jobs available include helping professors with research or working with campus departments, such as the Anishinaabe Initiatives Division. Research Assistant opportunities are also available to upper-year Anishinaabe students.
